Career Management and Transferrable Skills
Career management skills are the competencies people need to:
- Make considered decisions about education, training and work options.
- Face uncertainty and change with greater confidence.
- Experience smoother transitions.
- Find purpose and meaning in whatever roles they play in life.
There is also a need to cultivate the transferable skills (sometimes referred to as power skills) that are in demand across many different sectors: communication, collaboration, problem-solving, organising, planning and prioritising work, creative thinking and ‘information literacy’ (skills related to gathering, processing, and using information)
(Hambly and Bomford 2026).
Each Fledge town story elicits career management and transferable skills that can be strengthened through a learning programme.
